Astonishingly elegant, with a generous, yet well tempered palate and a supple structure. Vibrant juicy schaarbeekse cherries and a hint of marzipan are balanced by fresh citrus zest and fine tannins.

Bodegas Frontonio has earned a remarkable reputation as one of Spain's most thrilling contemporary wineries. The enterprise, run by Fernando Mora MW and Mario López, has received high acclaim from prestigious figures such as Jancis Robinson MW and Luis Guitiérrez of Wine Advocate, all while from the somewhat obscure Valdejalón IGP appellation in Aragón.

Frontonio's Grand Cru selection, referred to as 'V3' on the label, comprises wines crafted from grapes harvested from their oldest vines. Ranging from 45 and 75 years old for their Macabeo and Garnacha respectively, and up to 120 years in their prized 1.84 ha vineyard, 'El Jardin de las Iguales'.

This wine is 96% Garnacha blended with 4% Macabeo, from a single vineyard planted between 1918 and 1922 in slate and limestone soils. The vineyard is situated in Barrandijos, near Alpartir, on a northeast-facing slope at 700m above sea level.

The fruit is harvested by hand as whole bunches, with selection in the vineyard, and foot stomped to crush. The must is retrodden every day before transferring to a large wooden vessel for 78 days of fermentation. The wine is then aged for 14 months in neutral French oak barrels brought from Les Hospices de Beaune.

This exquisite wine is limited to 851 individually numbered bottles.
