Bodegas Frontonio Microcosmico Blanco Macabeo 2022

Fresh and vibrant, with notes of citrus zest, blossomy florality and a delicate savoury edge, leading to a crisp but rounded, slightly saline finish - a beautifully contemplative sipper, and very versatile for pairing with all manner of fresh fish dishes.

Bodegas Frontonio produces exceptional wines under the expertise of Winemaker Fernando Mora MW and Viticulturalist Mario Lopez. Their winemaking operations are housed in a 200-year-old house, situated above a three-story cellar/cave system in Alpartir, a town located southwest of Zaragoza in Spain. Their approach to winemaking centers on minimal intervention while maintaining a constant focus on the soil, grapes, and wine throughout every stage of production.

This wine is 100% Macabeo from vines aged over 65 years planted in limestone soils at 530 m above sea level on the slopes of IGP Valdejalon in Aragon. The organically cultivated fruit is harvested by hand in early September and destemmed before a 20 hour maceration period. The must is fermented for 15 days in cement tanks at 17-18 °C by wild yeast native to to the vineyard and winery. The wine is then aged for 6 months in cement tanks on fine lees without battonage.

Official Tasting Notes
Lemon yellow colour with green hints. Lime, white flower and fennel aromas. Aromas shown over a mineral profile. In mouth it feels very fresh with a salty texture. Long-length. An energetic and vibrant Macabeo wine with keeping potential.
