The Bottega Vinai range showcases the wide range of grape varieties that are grown in Trentino, in the far north of Italy. The winemaker selects the best examples of each grape variety, only a small percentage meet their high expectations. Lagrein is an indigenous varietal and has some relation to Syrah. A long maceration on the skins is followed by ageing in barriques for 12-14 months, and finally it is transferred to large oak casks for 6 months.
Official Tasting Notes A warm spicy nose with lightly smoky aromas, which mingle with plum, red berries and a hint of chocolate. The palate is finely structured with supple tannins and bright balancing acidity. Ripe plum and blackberry fruit lead to long, savoury finish with a typically Italian bitter cherry twist.
