The oldest vineyard in Japan (established in 1870) Château Mercian has been growing the indigenous Koshu grape alongside European grapes since the beginning. A beautiful grape with bright pink skin, this wine has a lovely mix of fruit and the toasted notes from the Sur Lie method (leaving the wine to age on the lees and bottling rather than filtering).
Food PairingPaella
Official Tasting Notes Pale yellow color. Refreshing aromas of citrus fruits such as lemon, lime, sudachi and apple, nuance of toasted bread derived from Sur Lie Method appears. Fresh acidity is accented by pleasant astringency extracted from the skin of Koshu grapes.
