Dougos Winery Meth`Imon "L" Limniona 2021

Thanos and Louiza Dougos operate not only an award-winning winery, but also one of Greece's oldest viticultural nurseries, in Thessaly, established in 1950. Here they cultivate rare indegenous Greek grape varieties, such as Limniona.

This wine is 100% Limniona from 550-700 m above sea level on the north-east slopes of Mount Olympus, planted in iron-rich schist souls over a sandy clay subsoil. After maceration, the grape must is fermented in open-topped tanks, then the wine is aged in a combination of lightly toasted French and American oak caks for 8 months prior to bottling.

Official Tasting Notes
This wine shows very bright and lifted aromatics of wild blueberry, red currant and red plum fruit, underpinned by fragrant rose and violet notes and just a slight herbal lift. Vivacious and pure on the palate with very crunchy and pure red fruit and fantastic lively acidity. The tannins are textured but supple. Just utterly gorgeous.
