Probably the majority of Scottish distilleries have during their lifetime been subjected to periods of inactivity due to closure, mothballing, ownership change, refurbishment or a lack of demand for one reason or another. Glengoyne is one of the few distilleries that has luckily avoided any such interruption and has been in constant production since its inception in 1833 as Burnfoot distillery. 1870 is a signifigant date for Glengoyne as it was around this time when the majority of wine imported into Great Britain was sherry, Glengoyne began to use these sherry butts to mature their spirit Step back in time with this heavily sherried 18 year old expression.
