Loch Lomond 18 Year Old

Loch Lomond distillery is slightly less well known, although it has the famous name. A complex whisky, that has both sweet and fruity notes, and spicy older oak notes. Made with casks chosen by their Master Cooper, as they have a cooperage on site.

Staff Tasting Notes

Nose – Cherries and nuts soaked in brandy. Chocolate truffles and freshly charred oak, which threatens a light smokiness.

Palate – Sherry spice, mature oak with a little moss growth. Touches of white fruit and citrus. A slightly strange 'old' oak finish.

Comments – Enjoyable nose but palate loses the rich sweet nose for a drier, woodier palate.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – Green apple and grapefruit aromas fuse before the sweet character of honeysuckle and mature oak comes through.

Palate – Full bodied and rounded. Elegant wood notes of toasted oak and cigar box become green fruits with apple and gooseberry.

Finish – Long finish with dried tea and tobacco leaf in balance with soft medicinal peatiness and wood smoke.
