Newbarns PX Pilsner Edinburgh 1880

A homage to an old Younger's of Edinburgh brewing recipe, brewed by Newbarns Brewery in Leith. Made in remote collaboration with Little Leeds Beerhouse to celebrate their sixth birthday.

This is a Victoria lager recipe, with some quite surprising elements from the recipe. The use of American, English, and German hops, sugar to bump up the gravity, and decoction (hop extraction). All these techniques sound modern but were actually in this old recipe. The result is a hoppy pilsner, with sweeter, malty notes in the background.
