Quiquiriqui Mezcals are made by the Mendez family of Matatlan, Oaxaca, who source agave of diffierent varieties from growers acreoss the region.

Mezcal de Pechuga is made by redistilling a finished mezcal with some combination of fruits, grains and nuts, with a chicken or turkey breast hung in the still. This is said to add a texture and body to the spirit.

In this case, Oaxacan mole paste is macerated in the base mezcal before redistilling, in the presence of poultry breast, to produce the pechuga.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – Earthy, leather, spice, pepper and chocolate

Palate – Complex spices, nutty, earthy, vegetal, stewed fruits.

Finish – long and spicy, roasted cacao and peppery.
