Michel Ampeau of Domaine Robert Ampeau et Fils is now retired, with over 35 vintages under his belt. For the past decades, however, Michel has maintained a policy of releasing his wines only when they are mature. As a result, the domaine boasts one of the most extensive collections of back-vintages in the region.

For us at Drinkmonger, this means that we are fortunate enough to be able to offer a selection of truly exceptional ready-to-drink Burgundies from this legendary domaine.

This wine is 100% Chardonnay from the Premier Cru of La Pièce Sous Le Bois on the slopes above Blagny in Meursault. The fruit was fermented in oak barrels (15% new), with regular batonnage and full malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged on lees for up to 12 months before bottling and long-term cellaring.

1999 was a particularly warm vintage, resulting in good yields of rich, ripe fruit. This ripeness is balanced and complimented by a crisp acidity and a rounded texture.
