Sigurd Chenin Blanc 2021

Exquisite winemaking. Bright florality and fresh honeydew melon with a hint of butter, nicely softened acidity and a saline finish. - This wine longs to be paired with pan fried scallops.

100% Chenin Blanc from vines with an average age of 57 years in a cool climate site in the far north of the Clare Valley, with red loam soils over deep clay.

The fruit is pressed as whole bunches into old Russian Oak puncheons. A small proportion was fermented on skins for 10 days and the rest fermented on lees for 20 days with full malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in these same puncheons for 7 months prior to bottling.

Official Tasting Notes
A little waxy with aromas of fresh honeycomb, toffee and bruised apples. Slippery and glossy palate, which is framed by perky, crystalline acidity. Soft tannins and a flavours of kumquat and sherbet. Cool look at Chenin, should be more like it.
