This red wine is made from Shiraz, Syrah and Viognier grapes, which are grown in the Rhone region, France.

This is a brand-new cuvée from the renowned star of the Northern Rhône, Stéphane Ogier. Since the beginning of his winemaking journey in Côte-Rôtie, Ogier has meticulously selected vineyard plots that not only perform exceptionally, but also best express the distinct terroir variations across his estate.

From more than twenty terroirs in Côte-Rôtie within the estate, Ogier chose eleven of the finest to craft this remarkable wine. In true dedication to quality and patience, he aged his cuvées for over a decade before release.

The Côte-Rôtie “Mes Grands Lieux” 2015 marks the very first release under this label. It beautifully combines the depth of maturity with the freshness of youth, an exceptional wine from an outstanding vintage, made by one of the Rhône Valley’s greatest winemakers.

This wine is the synthesis of the best vineyard sites of the estate, with 74% of the assemblage coming from the mica-schist soils of Côte Brune and 26% from gneiss soils of Côte Blonde. Fruit from each plot is vinified separately, to express each nuance of the individual terroirs, the blend is then constructed after a year in the cellar. This vintage is aged in 600 litre demi-muids, a format particularly suited to Syrah.

The 2015 vintage is a benchmark year, marked by radiant maturity and a luminous expression of terroir. A warm, dry season has yielded grapes of exceptional ripeness. The blend, 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, comes from 11 lieux-dits. Harvested between September 5th and 12th, this early picking reflects the vintage’s warmth and generosity.

The nose starts with rich aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, layered with violet and delicate spices. The palate is broad, velvety, and harmonious, wrapped in silky tannins.
