Thistledown Gorgeous Grenache Rosé 2022

Fresh, aromatic and complex, with ripe summer berries and a hint of blossom on the nose, and a rounded, slightly creamy palate quenched by a drying sharpness on the finish which draws you back for another sip - A perfect pairing for sardines grilled on a barbeque on a summer's day.

Thistledown Wine Company, run by two masters of wine, Giles Cooke & Fergal Tynan, was set up to produce more elegant expressions of Grenache and Syrah. Drawing upon years of experience with both old and new world winemaking styles, Thistledown have managed to combine these two distinct ideologies into a winery which produces excellently balanced wines whilst still retaining their Australian character.

This rosé is made from 100% Grenache from a single vineyard of 70 year old vines near the city of Berri in South Australia. The fruit was hand-picked and destemmed then gently crushed. Following a brief 3.5 hours of skin contact, the juice was fermented at a low temperature to preserve aromatics and primary fruit character. The wine was then aged on lees in stainless steel tanks for two months prior to bottling.
