Jamaica 2013 from Worthy Park has been produced in a lush vale in central Jamaicais. From the family estate’s own molasses, this rum has been richly aged and matured for 11 years, combining four years in Jamaican ex-bourbon casks and then transferred to second-fill rum casks to mellow over seven more years in Scotland. Distilled exclusively in pot stills, it reveals depth combined with a well balanced profile, heralded by tropical fruit, warm spice, and subtle oak hints. “This shows off the huge spectrum of Jamaican rum. Instead of the strong overripe fruit flavours of famous ‘high-ester’ styles, this goes for a more complex approach. A traditional ‘double-retort’ pot still helps make it crisp and precise but with depth: banana bread with orange and spice. To highlight that complexity, we matured this without much cask influence.” - The Elixir Trails.
Official Tasting Notes On the nose, a steamy stewed clove-studded blood orange with rhubarb alongside intense baked banana. A palate of soothing, dense and warm with bitter orange and almond flakes. Cardamom and all-spice with sultanas, blending with the banana bread setting. Finishing with faded floral notes, orange blossom and honeysuckle. “This shows off the huge spectrum of Jamaican rum.
