Woven Experience 1 Blended Scotch Whisky

Two friends with a long experience in the whisky business set up Woven, which showcases blended whisky and the flavour experiences that can be had with a well constructed whisky.

Experience 1 is based around an Islay malt which has been ageing in a 50 litre, sherry seasoned Octave. With the smoke, sherry and oak being heavier flavours, they wanted to lift up this whisky, and gift it a bit more vibrancy, so they blended in a well aged lowland grain whisky, which softens the palate and adds a rich vanilla note.

To this, they wanted more texture to the blend. An island malt added grassiness and freshness, and the Campbeltown malt added oiliness and weight. The final addition to this was a meaty, full bodied Speyside single malt, which brought everything together.

Tasting it, they felt it needed time to integrate, so they married these whiskies in an ex-bourbon hogshead cask for 100 days.
