A A Badenhorst The Curator White Blend Can

Fresh, bright and well-structured. A simple wine, but a beautifully well made one, with notes of dried stonefruit, ripe, slightly blossomy citrus and a hint of aromatic spice - this wine is an essential part of any picnic.

Winemaker, Andre Adriaan "Adi" Badenhorst, along with his cousin, Hein, founded AA Badenhorst Family Wines in 2008 when they purchased 60 hectares of land in Paardeberg, Western Cape. Applying his decades of experience, Adi farms his vineyards organically and describes his winemaking as "back to basics", using traditional winemaking equipment and cement vessels.

This wine is predominantly a blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier, with smaller quantities of Semillon, Colombard and Rousanne added to the assemblage depending on the vintage. Much of the fruit was grown on bush vines planted in granite and slate soils, in traditionallly tended local vineyards.

The grapes are handpicked and chilled overnight before pressing into settling tanks. After a further night of settling, the juice is transferred to concrete vessels and is fermented naturally by yeasts native to the vineyard and winery. The wine is settled in tank for 6 months before blending and bottling.
