Ardmore 2009 13 Year Old RMW Cask #709383

This 13 year old was matured in a single ex-Laphroaig refill barrel. It was distilled at Ardmore distillery on the 16th of December 2009, and independently bottled by Royal Mile Whiskies in April 2023.

You get that trademark dry and sooty smokiness of Highland peat with just a hint of what almost tastes like a drop of Islay medicine.

Staff Tasting Notes

Nose – Wet wood smoke initially, with the scent of a pile of autumn leaves after a heavy rain coming after. 

Palate – Sweet and earthy smoke on the palate, with an acidic edge towards the back.  Orange and treacle with just a hint of charred bread. After adding a couple drops of water, it becomes rounder and softer. Hints of marshmallow begin on the mid palate, and a slight new leather note opens on the back palate, providing a balancing bitterness. Has the mouthfeel of thick gravy.

Finish – Well structured and long.
