Intensely fruity and expressive, with elegantly balanced acidity and nutty oak influence, framed by silky smooth tannins - very versatile for pairing with anything from a marbled steak to a neapolitan pizza.

Amaren originated in 1995 as the critically acclaimed premium range from Luis Cañas. Bodegas Amaren was later founded as a winery in its own right, one devoted to the pursuit of perfection in every facet of winemaking. Today, Amaren is headed by Luis Cañas' grandson, Jon Cañas who has continued his grandfather's work.

Ángeles de Amaren is a blend of Tempranillo (85%) and Graciano (15%) from high altitude vineyards around the villages of Samaniego and Leza in Rioja Alavesa, nearly half being over 60 years old.

The bunches are hand-selected at the winery before destemming. The varieties are vinified seperately, with assemblage prior to bottling. The must is fermented in stainless steel vessels at a strictly controlled temperature to preserve primary fruit characteristics before ageing for 16 months in new French oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation.

Official Tasting Notes
Cherry red. Incredibly intense fruit aromas over a delicate background of oak. Lactic nuances and spicy touches. Tasty and expressive with smooth, fresh tannins and balanced acidity. On the finish, it is long with reminiscences of red and black fruit. Fresh, lively and persistent.
