Decadently sweet, but with a balancing citrus freshness and caramel bitterness - Often overlooked as a dessert wine but a stunning pairing for custard tarts, crème brûlée and fruit cake.

100% Moscatel (AKA Muscat de Alexandria) from Lustau's 'Las Cruces' vineyard outside Chiponia, just along the coast from Sanlúcar and one of precious few sites in the sherry triangle where Moscatel is grown. Moscatel Emilín is made in the style known as Moscatel de Pasas, whereby a portion of the grapes are dried in the sun to concentrate their flavours and sugar content. In addition, the grapes are harvested as late as possible to maximise sugar ripeness.

The grapes are pressed and fermentation begins. Before all the sugar has been converted, fermentation is arrested by fortification with grape spirit. The fortified wine is then aged oxidatively in the solera system, with fractional blending. When bottled, this Moscatel has an average age of 8 years.

Official Tasting Notes
Dark mahogany colour with a iodine rim. Intense floral and citric aromas, showing Moscatel varietal at its best. Smooth and rich on the palate, reminiscent of dried fruits and spices. This wine has great length and sweetness, yet balanced by its natural acidity.
