Bunnahabhain 1999 23 Year Old RMW Cask #4099

Presenting a well-matured single cask whisky from Bunnahabhain Distillery on Islay.  Bottled by our partner shop, Royal Mile Whiskies, this spirit was distilled in December of 1999 and slumbered for 23 years in a bourbon hogshead until it was selected for bottling in May of 2023.

An intriguing bottling; it is at 43%, but that is it's natural strength. Explained by our Managing Director as "the most annoying cask strength possible, as everyone will think we diluted it. We didn't. Over decades, water and alcohol have evaporated to leave this intensely sweet and concentrated Islay malt."

Staff Tasting Notes

Nose – Blasts of apricot, melon and tangerine with just a hint of lychee and blackberries. Sweet like syrup, almost like the kind that comes in tinned peaches. Delectable.

Palate – More tangerine, but this time with lemon and grapefruit with a creamy mouthfeel. Barley sugar, cereal, orange oil, more peaches.

Finish – A dusting of pepper on the finish. A delightfully soft and pleasurable old single malt.
