Ca N'Estruc L'Equilibrista Garnatxa Negre 2016

Ca N'estruc, "House of the Estruch" is a historical agricultural estate in Catalonia, and home to the Estruch family and their descendants. Dating back to 1574, the estate has been home to cereal farms, orchards, livestock and, consistently, grape vines.

Though the Estruch family had been making wine on the Estruch estate for hundreds of years, it was not until 1980 that the current head of the family, Francisco Marti Badia, began the process of professionalising Ca N'Estruc's viticulture.

This wine is 100% Garnatxa Negra (AKA Garnacha Tinta/Grenache Noir) grown locally to the Ca N'Estruc estate. The vines, aged between 18 and 40 years, are planted in alluvial soil at 165 m above sea level. The fruit is harvested by hand, with rigorous selection both in the vineyard and the winery, then destemmed and vinified in a combination of open French oak foudres and stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 14 months in a combination of new and old French oak barrels prior to bottling and release.

Official Tasting Notes
It has an intense and appealing garnet red colour. The nose is ripe and fresh at the same time, with hints of red fruits such as strawberry and bitter pomegranate. In the mouth it leaves a very seductive and rich sensation, with a handful of delicious red fruits. It stands out for its freshness and rounded tannins that leave a long, pleasant and fragrant aftertaste on the palate.
