A delicate and light bodied wine, but one that carries remarkable intensity - the nose presents tangy lemon cream and a undercurrent of fresh hazelnut. Citrus, soft pear and hazelnut are beautifully integrated with subtle oak spice on the palate, and more tropical notes of mango and starfruit evolve in the glass over time. The finish is deceptively sharp, with an initially gentle acidity developing into a tanginess which has you quickly going back for another sip.

Ca N'estruc, "House of the Estruch" is a historical agricultural estate in Catalonia, and home to the Estruch family and their descendants. Dating back to 1574, the estate has been home to cereal farms, orchards, livestock and, consistently, grape vines.

Though the Estruch family had been making wine on the Estruch estate for hundreds of years, it was not until 1980 that the current head of the family, Francisco Marti Badia, began the process of professionalising Ca N'Estruc's viticulture.

This wine is 100% Xarel-lo from vineyards local to the Ca N'Estruc estate. These 40 year old vines are planted in alluvial soils at 165 m above sea level. The fruit was harvested by hand and underwent selection both in the vineyard and in the winery. The selected bunches were destemmed and pressed into stainless steel vessels to stabilise and clarify the must. The clarified must is fermented in French oak barrels for 18 days by indigenous yeast and the resulting wine is aged in a combination of 500 L French Oak Barrels and 2500 L oak vats.

Beautiful, brilliant, and gold in colour. On the nose it is intense, and it has the perfume of the stone fruit and dry lemon peel. Progressively it shows delicate toasted wood aromas with a bread and light white pepper touch. On the palate it is seductive, crisp, and voluminous, with a silky texture balanced by a pleasant and citric freshness. A sophisticated white wine with a great ageing potential.
