Casa Relvas Herdade de Sao Miguel Pe de Mae 2020

Surprisingly delicate while maintaining an exceptional depth and complexity of flavour - great with soft cheese, charcuterie and paté.

Pé de Mãe is the name given to some of Casa Relvas' oldest vines in Redondo, Alentejo, which suit the terroir of the estate perfectly. It is from these mother vines that cuttings are taken for propogation purposes.

This wine is a blend of Aragonez, Castelão and Trincadeira hand-harvested from these vines exclusively. The fruit is whole-berry fermented (20% with stalks) in stainless steel vessels using native yeasts. The skins are macerated for 30 days before a period of malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and 18 months of ageing in a 5000L French oak foudre.

Soft cheese, stewed red meat.

Official Tasting Notes
Red berries and orange blossoms with some balmy notes. Nice acidity and soft tannins, persistent fruity finish.
