Chanzy Maranges 1er Cru La Fussiere 2019

Notes of sour cherry with brooding, earthy liquorice undertones - all the classic food pairings apply but this also works beautifully with duck spring rolls.

This is 100% Pinot Noir from the premier cru Climat of La Fussière, in appelation village of Maranges, just west of Santenay at the southern extreme of Côte de Beaune. The vines are planted on grey-black and grey-blue jurassic marls on south-facing slopes.

The fruit undergoes a 10 day pre-fermentation cold maceration, followed by a tempreature-controlled fermentation with pumping-over and punching-down. The wine is aged in old French oak barrels for 15 months prior to bottling.

Staff Tasting Notes
Juicy and powerful, with meaty, earthy liquorice and pepper underpinnings. Deep in colour with notes of sour cherry and oak spice. Great finesse and length.

Beautiful dark red colour, with purple reflections. The bouquet is very expressive with notes of sour cherry, liquorice and chalky notes. It is a wine with finesse and a very long finish.
