Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs NV

Crisp, ripe and faintly creamy, with light citrus, hazelnuts and a saline minerality - a triumphant return for this cuvée which previously had not been produced since the 1960s.

This Blanc de Blancs is made from Chardonnay from 10 of the finest crus across the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, and Montgueux in the north of the Aube. The grapes were fermented predominantly in stainless steel tanks, with a small proportion fermented in old oak, followed by a period of malolactic fermentation. This base wine is blended with reserve wines, comprising 25% of the assemblage, which had been aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for an average of 6 years. This assemblage is tiraged then aged in bottle for 36-48 months before disgorgement.

The finished Champagne has a residual sugar content of 10g/L, designating it as Brut. This is balanced by 6.4g/L of acidity.

Official Tasting Notes
Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs is a pale, crystalline gold colour. The nose is characterised by aromas of mature Chardonnay; white peach, candied citrus with notes of lime, honeysuckle and fresh hazelnuts giving way to subtle hints of tangerine and lemon. On the palate, the Blanc de Blancs bears all the hallmarks of a Charles Heidsieck Champagne: boldness, generosity and elegance. Embracing yet light, it displays appealing mineral, slightly salty, iodine notes, and has a silky, creamy texture – unexpected from a Chardonnay – that leaves a lasting impression.
