Blanc des Millenaires is the name given to Champagne Charles Heidsieck's highly regarded vintage Blanc de Blancs releases. These are produced only from exceptional vintages and as such, Blanc des Millenaires 2007 is only the seventh vintage of this cuvée to be released, the first being 1983.

This cuvée is produced from Chardonnay selected by Chef de Cave, Cyril Brun, from four Grand Cru vineyards and one Premier Cru in the Côte des Blancs - Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant and Vertus. 2007 was a relatively cool year in Champagne, resulting in fruit with a somewhat higher than usual acidity, which nevertheless achieved good sugar ripeness and a particularly high-yield harvest. This high acidity lends itself to a well structured and ageable Champagne.

After pressing, the must was fermented in stainless steel vats, then racked to seperate the wine from its lees before malolactic fermentation. The wine was then bottled with the addition of yeast (Tirage) in 2008, and underwent secondary fermentation on lees for 12 years before disgorgement. The finished Champagne was aged for a further period of just under two years before release in 2022. This Brut Champagne has a residual sugar content of 7g/L, balanced by an acidity of 8.5g/L.

Official Tasting Notes
The Blanc des Millénaires 2007 is a pale gold colour with glints of light green, typical of Chardonnay and in contrast to the previous 2006 vintage. The nose displays fresh grapefruit and yuzu citrus notes along with quince, delicate smoke and buttery caramel hints. On the palate, the identity of the vintage is evident with a sharp and classy acidity. An enveloping texture is then revealed with accents of lemon meringue pie and subtle saline notes. The generosity of this cuvée is prominent and will continue to develop with ageing. The finish is long and full-bodied with silky sensations.
