Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve Magnum NV

Indulgent, bready and beautifully structured. A big name that has nevertheless refused to compromise on quality - This is a natural aperitif or a dream pairing for lobster dishes.

Champagne Charles Heidsieck sources its grapes from 60 sites across Champagne. Their house style can be attributed to the sourcing of their grapes from specific, high quality vineyards - much of their Chardonnay is sourced from Oger; their Pinot Noir from Ambonnay and Pinot Meunier from Verneuil.

Vins Clairs from each grape are fermented predominantly in stainless steel tanks, with a small proportion in oak barrels. These wines then undergo malolactic fermentation before blending in proportions of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier to produce the base wine.

This base wine is blended with 40-46% reserve wines with an average age of 10 years, before bottling with the addition of yeast. Secondary fermentation and ageing in bottle proceeds for 40 months before disgorging.

Official Tasting Notes
The Brut Réserve NV is a radiant pale gold colour with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is characterised by complex pastry aromas, with an opulent combination of ripe apricot, mango, greengages, dried fruits, pistachio and almond. The palate begins with a silky-smooth sensation, developing into ripe fleshy apricot, melon and enticing plum pastry notes and delicate spice. There is perfect balance of freshness and generosity.
