Chateau Laballe Les Terres Basses Blanc 2020

Lovely and fresh with tropical fruits, greengage and orange blossom - great with fresh Mediterranean food but vibrant and ripe enough to stand up to spicier and more intense cuisine.

Formerly exclusively producers of Armagnac, the Laudet family have been producing dry white wines since 1970. In 2007, eighth generation winemaker Cyril Laudet took over from his grandfather and together with his wife, Julie, has been working to expand Chateau Laballe's white wine production and is in the process of converting to biodynamic winemaking.

This wine is a blend of Colombard, Gros Manseng and Ugni Blanc with the lifting addition of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The fruit is destemmed before cold maceration in anaerobic conditions and a low temperature fermentation - all to preserve the ripeness and fruit intensity of the wine. The wine spends 3 months on lees before bottling to impart a subtle textural roundness.

Fish, Mediterranean tapas, Thai, Indonesian and Sri Lankan cuisines.

Staff Tasting Notes
Perfumed nose, tropical fruits, greengage, green plum and orange blossom. Very fresh with a lovely texture and a saline finish.

Official Tasting Notes
A beautiful pale yellow colour with green highlights, an intense nose dominated by pomelos and white fruits. The attack is lively and the mouth remains fresh with a slight sweetness. The aromas of citrus fruits and exotic fruits remain lingering on the finish. A gourmet and fruity wine.
