A young boutique estate in Montalcino, Cupano released their first wine just over 20 years ago and have been making headlines ever since. They have never used any chemicals on the vines, some of which are considerably older than the estate itself. Production is small and all carried out by Andrea Polidoro. Every year, they sample all the barrels going into their Brunello yet sometimes barrels don’t make the cut. However in no means for being bad wine, but just not quite being fully mature yet. When this happens rather than waste the wine they create this stunning multi-vintage blend. This edition is a blend of the 2018 and 2019 vintages, with 80% being Sangiovese and 20% Merlot. The best way to try the estate at a great price.
Food PairingTry pairing with Gorgonzola or with a pasta dish, grilled steak or lamb. Or you can have a great pizza night, or pasta alongside this.
Staff Tasting Notes Cherry, oak spice, brambles and with a real punch of oak. Rustic, Tuscan wine for a bargain.
