Dom. de Bellevue Jerome Bretaudeau 'Ornate' Merlot 2015

Grapes from a Southeast-facing half-hectare plot of Merlot on soils of decomposed granite with pink and white quartz. Planted in the early 2000’s. Grapes are hand harvested, de-stemmed and macerated for 10 days in small old oak barrels. Later aged for one year in small oak barrels.

This wine is 100% Merlot from the granite soils of Muscadet. As far as we know it’s the only Merlot from the area, and is a stand-out in every way. Flavours of blueberry and and cherry layered with fig and chocolate. Smooth tannins and a hint of spices at the finish. This is a wine with full body that still manages to feel light.
