Domaine Capmartin Cuvee de Couvent Madiran 2018

Hefty, intense and subtly grippy, positively simmering with plum and brambles - a great match for venison, rabbit or the tangiest mature cheddar you can find.

Domaine Capmartin are dedicated to producing more progressive examples of the historic wines of Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh. Their vineyards are farmed biodynamically, with minimal intervention and the wines are wild fermented with no sulphites used in the winemaking process.

This AOP Madiran is made from 100% Tannat grown on clay and limestone soils and harvested by hand. The fruit is destemmed, undergoes maceration with punching down before fermentation in concrete tanks. The wine is aged in 500L French oak barrels (50% new) for 18 months, during which time it undergoes malolactic fermentation.

Official Tasting Notes
Punchy and ripe plum and dark berry flavours. This has plenty of depth on the palate, with a spicy finish alongside well balanced tannins.
