We’ve had our eye on these new kids on the Côtes-du-Rhône block for a few years now, but detail and tension 2021s confirmed them as an essential listing: Assiégés is an unpretentious village level field blend from a young single plot of biodynamically farmed Grenache, Caladoc, Syrah, and Carignan. Vinified with native yeasts in stainless steel, this has bags of bright floral aromatics, garrigue, and punchy black fruit on the nose, and a beautifully lithe and energetic palate. It’s an absolute delight.
