Fonseca Terra Prima Organic

Full, rich and fruit-driven, with intense dark berry and plum notes framed by well-integrated tannins and a hint of acidity - The perfect accompaniment for an indulgent chocolate and blueberry fondant.

This reserve ruby port, the first released port to be fully organic, is blended from fortified wines made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão and Tinta Amarela, all from organically farmed vineyards in the Douro Valley. Primarily, this fruit came from Quinta do Panascal and Quinta de Santo António.

Each variety was vinified and fortified (with organic grape spirit) seperately for later blending. As a reserve ruby port, this blend also includes wines from older vintages which have been aged in inert, but oxygen permeable, foeders and concrete vats, where they develop more complexity and a smoother texture.

Official Tasting Notes
A wonderfully rich, concentrated Port with great flavour and texture. It has an opulent black fruit nose which is followed through on the palate showing layers of intense berry, plum and cherry fruit flavours supported by firm, but well integrated tannins. A deliciously textured Reserve Port which is velvety, smooth, succulent and plump.
