Kingsbarns 2021 Distillery Reserve

A cask strength bottling from Kingsbarns distillery near St Andrews. Isabella Wemyss, their production director, chose the ex bourbon casks and the STR (shaved, toasted, recharred) red wine casks that have been combined to create this dram.

The STR casks add some lovely spicy fruity notes to this clean, balanced whisky.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose – Baking spices immediately to the fore, with orange oil, vanilla pods, cherry tobacco and a touch of apricot.

Palate – Sticky stem ginger pudding alongside freshly grated orange zest.

Finish – Good length with wood spice, clove and rhubarb and ginger jam.
