Loveblock Tee Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2023

Complex, vibrant and textured, with notes of ripe citrus and tropical fruit, underpinned by a hint of white pepper and framed by a fresh acidity and a delicate whisper of tannin - A gorgeous pairing for eastern Mediterranean cuisine.

Kim and Erica Crawford founded Loveblock wines in 2008 following the sale of the winery and brand that bears Kim's name. By comparison to the large commercial scale of Kim Crawford wines, Loveblock is very much a passion project for the couple, who now grow fruit on two sites in Marlborough and Central Otago.

This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the organically farmed Woolshed vineyard on Loveblock farm in Lower Dashwood, Marlborough. These 27 acreas of vines, planted in 2003, sit on the Awatere valley floor in alluvial silt loam soils over substone.

The grapes were harvested by machine, then pressed into stainless steel tanks, where the juice was innoculated by a selected strain of organic yeast, and neutral old French oak barrels for spontaneous fermentation by wild yeast and subsequent malolactic fermentation. these wines were then assembled and bottled.

When making this wine, Kim Crawford used green tea extract as an antioxidising agent in place of Sodium Metabisulfite. 5 mg/L was added every time the juice or wine was exposed to oxygen.

Official Tasting Notes
Pale straw with a hint of green and gold. This wine displays lifted aromas of ripe bruised apple, orange zest and ruby red grapefruit, followed by a vibrant, green-edged herbaceous layer and some earthy cumin tones. The palate is elegant, with juicy Golden Delicious apple and mandarin complemented by fresh acidity and a mild tannin note. Layered and textured, the wine has notes of saffron, fennel, sweet orange and spices, with a lingering minerality on the finish.
