Montecillo Vina Monty Graciano Reserva 2015

Firm, fleshy and focused, bursting with ripe plum with complex, layered undertones of walnut, liquorice, pencil shavings and mint. 

This revival of Bodegas Montecillo's top label - Vina Monty - celebrates their 150th anniversary of winemaking in Rioja Alta. The grapes for this 100% Graciano wine are sourced from a plot in Cenicero, Rioja Alta, as well as 10% coming from a lower-altitude plot in Rioja Oriental, near the Ebro River. These wines are separately vinified before being blended and then aged in new French oak for 30 months, then released after a further 16 months in the bottle. 

Official Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in colour with a sensitive, almost delicate nose with dainty wild mint and red fruit aromas. Dense, concentrated and firm on the palate, as you’d expect, but the new French oak is adroitly handled and there’s plenty of underlying dark berry fruit and acidity.
