Odfjell Armador Carmenere 2021

A bright and fresh expression of Valle Central Carménère. Notes of bramble with a spicy, balsamic depth - Pairs surprisingly well with moroccan lamb dishes.

Armador is the Spanish word for a ship owner and is the name given to the original range of Odfjell's wines, established in 1999.

This is a 85% Carménère and 15% Syrah from the sandy clay and granite soils of the Maule Valley and the red clay of the Maipo Valley. The grapes are destemmed and macerated as whole berries at a low temperature for 4 to 6 days, then the must is fermented using a mixture of native and selected yeasts. The wine is aged in stainless steel and undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation.

Food Pairing
Lamb shanks braised in a tanine, chicken madras, sweet potato cakes with poached eggs.

Official Tasting Notes
Alluring purplish-red in colour with aromas of dark fruits and licorice as well as hints of spice notes such as black pepper and cloves. The palate is long and refreshing with ripe fruit flavours and soft tannins.
