Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier 2023

An elegant wine, crafted with clever winemaking. The lemony acidity of the chenin balances beautifully with the phenolically ripe aromaticity of the viognier to produce a white that punches well above its weight - a great pairing for prawns in garlic butter.

This wine is a blend of Chenin Blanc (75%) and Viognier (25%) from, respectively, 30 and 15 year old vines in the Breede River Valley, Western Cape. The vines sit in a combination of 'Karoo' red, lime-rich soil and sandy loam. The climate is temperate, with low rainfall - ideal for viticulture.

The varieties are vinified seperately and simply, as to preserve character and freshness as much as possible. A portion of the Chenin Blanc is fermented by wild yeast, and undergoes extensive lees-ageing to impart a beautifully round texture.
