Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2015

2015 was a Legendary vintage in Champagne. At the time, the hottest vintage ever recorded led to ripe, rich fruit, and the low rainfall, while reducing yields by as much as 20%, protected vines from disease and removed the need for spraying with pesticides and fungicides. Champagnes from this vintage are drinking well now, but will likely retain their freshness until 2030 and possibly beyond.

This Champagne adheres to the traditional Pol Roger Vintage blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from 20 Grands and Premiers Crus vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. After pressing the grapes (seperately by variety and village) the juice was stabilised and clarified twice by gravity sedimentation - once at ambient temperature, immediately after pressing, and again at 6 °C fror 24 hours in stainless steel tanks.

The juice from each parcel was fermented slowly, with the temperature kept below 18 °C, followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wines from each parcel were blended and bottled for ageing on lees. During this time, the bottles were riddled by hand to acheive a finer mousse in the finished Champagne.

Official Tasting Notes
The Brut Vintage 2015 displays a lovely golden hue with silver highlights. The subtle first nose opens with notes of fleshy ethereal hints of rose petals. Expressive and full of freshness, the bouquet is reminiscent of patisserie, pastries and dried nuts. It then evolves to reveal aromas of honey and apple jelly. The palate is round and elegant. A slight zesty quality sets off the notes of brioche, patisserie and toast, combined with liquorice and dried nuts.
