Rich and full-bodied yet lean, with an elegant balance of firm structural tannins and tangy acidity which frame vibrant notes of violets and red and black cherries - A classic pairing for roast lamb or game birds.

Agricola San Felice produces fine wines at their estate in Castenuovo Berardenga, in Chianti Classico, a few miles east of the city of Siena, Tuscany. The estate consists of 140 hectares of vineyards and some 17,000 olive trees. San Felice have long been pioneers of Tuscan winemaking, being among the first in Chianti Classico to produce a 100% Sangiovese wine in 1968 (at a time when the DOC regulations required a proportion of other varieties) as well as being a significant part of the early Super Tuscan movement.

This Chianti Classico Riserva is 100% Sangiovese from the San Felice estate, where the vines are planted in gravelley limestone soils at 350-400m above sea level.

The grapes are rigorously selected, with only the finest being used to make this wine. The grape must is fermented in contact with the skins for 18-20 days at 28-30°C, before pressing into stainless steel vessels for malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 24 months in a combination of Slavonian oak foudres (80% of the batch) and French oak barriques. After assemblage and bottling, the finished wine is cellared for at least 6 months before release.
