Smalltown Vineyards Clovella Grenache Mataro 2019

A spicy and nicely developed Barossa blend - Works beautifully with (and in) rich braised pork and lamb dishes.

A field blend from the 40 year old vineyard of Clovella in Gomersal, Barossa Valley, consisting of a roughly 60/40 mix of Grenache and Mataro (AKA Mourvedre). The grapes are co-vinified before ageing for 22 months in old French oak to impart a maturity not often seen in contemporary juicy Barossa Grenache wines.

Official Tasting Notes
It starts with cassis, a nose full of promise. Clove and black pepper spice. The palate is dark and sultry with a dried fruit appeal. It finishes with a gentle lick of oak from the time the wine spends in oak.
