Full, silky and complex, with rich yet fresh notes of bramble, blueberry and plum, cushioned by luxurious oak spice and framed by soft tannins - A perfect wine to accompany red meats, like an indulgent meal at a churrascaria.

Viña Tabalí produces elegant, terroir-focussed wines on an impressively grand scale. Their vineyards spread from the pacific coast, to 1600m above sea level on the steep slopes of the Andes Mountains, all in the pursuit of unique soils and microclimates in which to grow grapes of exceptional quality. The fruit is vinified at their winery in Limari, on the edge of the Atacama desert.

This Carmenère is one of the few Tabali wines made without grapes from the Limari Valley. Instead, the fruit is drawn from further south, in the Cachapoal valley, from old vines planted in decomposed granite soils on a north facing slope. These old vines, planted in 1950, are low yielding, but their northern exposure means that they receive more hours of sunlight per day and ripen beautifully.

Once optimally ripe, the fruit is harvested by hand then carefully selected, first as whole bunches then again once destemmed. The must was fermented in stainless steel tanks, with maceration post-fermentation. The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak barrels prior to bottling.

Official Tasting Notes
Deep, intense red with slight violet hues. The nose is elegant, complex and very spicy with black fruit and chocolate. In the mouth it has smooth tannins and a perfect combination between the oak and the fruit. Elegant and long finish.
