Tabalí Pedregoso Chardonnay Gran Reserva 2020

Fresh, vibrant and complex the front to mid-palate is bursting with ripe citrus and tropical fruit, leading towards a mineral, slightly saline and crisp finish - A gorgeous pairing for fresh fish and seafood; treat it like a Chablis and drink with oysters.

Viña Tabalí produces elegant, terroir-focussed wines on an impressively grand scale. Their vineyards spread from the pacific coast, to 1600m above sea level on the steep slopes of the Andes Mountains, all in the pursuit of unique soils and microclimates in which to grow grapes of exceptional quality. The fruit is vinified at their winery in Limari, on the edge of the Atacama desert.

This wine is 100% Chardonnay from the Espinal vineyard, on the coastal side of the Limari Valley. In this arid plain, the clay-limestone soils retain just enough precious water, and the vineyards are cooled by the pacific breeze, resulting in concentrated wines with a distinctive minerality.

The grapes were harvested by hand at peak aromatic and phenolic ripeness, and rigorously selected for quality. Vinification was simple, prioritising freshness and the expression of Espinal vineyard's terroir. The juice was fermented, and later stabilised and aged, in stainless steel tanks.

Official Tasting Notes
Yellow in colour with greenish hues, this Chardonnay is fresh and intense. The nose reveals mineral aromas, together with notes of citrus fruit and pineapple. Full-bodied with excellent acidity and freshness, the palate has fresh fruit flavours, minerality and a saline hint at the finish.
