Viña Tabalí produces elegant, terroir-focussed wines on an impressively grand scale. Their vineyards spread from the pacific coast, to 1600m above sea level on the steep slopes of the Andes Mountains, all in the pursuit of unique soils and microclimates in which to grow grapes of exceptional quality. The fruit is vinified at their winery in Limari, on the edge of the Atacama desert.

This wine is 100% Merlot from the Espinal vineyard, on the coastal side of the Limari Valley. In this arid plain, the clay-limestone soils retain just enough precious water, and the vineyards are cooled by the pacific breeze, resulting in concentrated wines with a distinctive minerality.

After reaching optimal phenolic ripeness, the fruit is harvested by hand then carefully selected, first as whole bunches then again once destemmed. The must was fermented in stainless steel tanks, with maceration post-fermentation. The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak barrels prior to bottling.

This Merlot reveals a great degree of maturity and aromatic intensity.Very concentrated nose with aromas of red fruit, such as raspberries and strawberries, intermingled with spicy notes and vanilla. In the mouth, it is full-bodied with pleasant tannins and good structure. Good balance between acidity and abundant fruit. Long and pleasant finish.
