Tenuta Olim Bauda La Rochette Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG 2021

An absolutely textbook example of what good Barbera should be. Generous, ripe and beautifully structured with well integrated french oak spice - grab a bottle of this and treat yourself to a quality steak.

This Barbera comes from the somewhat sandy soils of the vineyards of Le Rocchette and the vinification is designed to showcase the terroir of this cru. As with many of Bauda's vineyards, these vines undergo extensive green harvesting to maximise the quality and flavour concentration of the grapes.

After the harvest, the grapes are hand-selected, pressed and undergo 12 days of maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats with the temperature kept below 30°C. The wine is aged for 18 months in 2500L old French oak casks before bottling and a further 6 months of ageing in bottle at the winery before release.

Official Tasting Notes
Garnet red with purple hues. On the nose it shows complex, subtle, deep aromas with well balanced notes of ripened fruit, plum, cocoa and spice. To the palate is soft and harmonious, well structured and properly alcoholic with sweet and fine-grained tannins that give the wine proper fullness. It has a persistent and enticing close.
