Thistledown Cunning Plan Shiraz 2023

Typical of the McLaren Vale, this Shiraz drinks like a Northern Rhone Syrah turned up to 11. Fresh violets, intense ripe brambles and blueberries with a touch of white pepper and a hint of saline minerality - A classic pairing for rich game dishes but this can really elevate Ma La Sichuan dishes.

100% Shiraz from the Moray Park vineyard in the McLaren Flat sub-region of the McLaren Vale. These low yielding-vines produce fruit with an incredible concentration and intensity of flavour.

The fruit is picked and gently crushed, preserving the grapes as whole berries which are left to soak, extracting colour and light tannins, for 4 days. The must is wild-fermented, then pressed and filled into 300L French oak hogsheads (15% new) where the wine ages for 10 months before bottling without fining or filtration.

Great depth of ripe plum and blackberry fruit flavours. A full bodied wine with a succulent palate, lively spices and fine velvety tannins.
