Aziendo Uggiano started its journey of delicious wine making in the 1970’s, created by some businessmen from Bergamo with a love of Tuscan wine, and the wine expert, Giuseppe Losapio. In 1976, the vineyard expanded to San Vincenzo a Torri, and have a reputation for exceptional red wines, with chianti, Sangiovesi, merlot and Cabernet sauvignons. The Uggiano Chianti Riserva consists of 90% Sangiovese grapes, and 10% Canaiolo, and from the oldest wines on Uggiano’s Colli Fiorentini & Classico properties. After collected and crushing, the grapes are fermented in Stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. The temperature during fermentation is contained to within 28-30® and the must is pumped over the skins twice a day. After 10-15 days the wine is separated from the dregs to prevent bitter tannins and solubilsations. They are then aged 12-14 months in French Oak barrels (Allier, Nevers and Vosges), then transferred for further maturation for 6-8 months into oak casks as large as 30-60HL.

Staff Tasting Notes The wine then continues to mature in the bottle for another 12 months. The colour is rich and red, with a round and full body on the palate. Subtle flower notes, but predominately sour cherries and forest berries. There is an undertone of vanilla and violet and a touch of balsamic. The generous autuminal characters pair perfectly with game meats and pasta dishes.
